Our Story

Be Bold, Be Bald! was created by Small Army for a Cause, a 501c3 organization founded by members of Small Army (an advertising, marketing and creative services agency) in Boston, Massachusetts. The organization raises money for causes that have inspired us and touched our lives. Small Army For A Cause was launched in honor of Mike Connell, co-founder and former Creative Principal of Small Army, who lost his battle with cancer in 2007.

Witnessing Mike’s heroic, two year fight, we saw first hand the courage and strength cancer patients have. He inspired us to continue that fight ourselves - and to do so in a way that would truly represent the boldness of Mike and his ideas.

In just 3 years, we have raised almost $400,000 to support cancer organizations including The Jimmy Fund, LiveSTRONG, The Prostate Cancer Foundation, The Susan Love Research Foundation and The International Myeloma Foundation. Each year, participants are able to select the organization for which they want to raise funds. And, thanks to generous donations and careful attention to event expenses, 100% of that money raised, plus addition donations, has been granted to those organizations. Due to our fundraising success to date, we now invite all cancer-related 501c3 organization to participate in the event to raise funds for their unique missions.
