July 8, 2010—Volunteer Katherine presents Lance Armstrong Foundation CEO Doug Ulman with a $10,000 grant at LIVESTRONG Headquarters in Austin, Texas.
AUSTIN, TX, July 8, 2010—Boston-based Small Army for a Cause made a $10,000 grant presentation today to The Lance Armstrong Foundation. The funds were raised from the 2009 Be Bold, Be Bald initiative, which asks participants to wear a bald cap for an entire day to show support for cancer patients.
Armstrong’s organization, known as LIVESTRONG, represents the type of “bold” response to cancer that Small Army For A Cause aims to inspire. In 2010, the foundations will work more closely together to create more excitement and raise important funds.
The 2010 Be Bold Be Bald initiative is underway and the event takes place across the country on October 22, 2010. For more information or to register, visit www.beboldbebald.org.
Small Army for a Cause is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to helping causes in need through the creation and management of bold fund-raising ideas and events. Be Bold, Be Bald! is the first event launched by the organization and in 2009 raised more close to $100,000, with all net proceeds being distributed to 501c3 cancer organizations. Future events for cancer and other causes are under consideration.
