Kristin's Story
I am participating in Be Bold, Be Bald! because ten years ago, I was bald! I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma when I was 11 years old. I'm 22 now and have been really trying to give back, but it was very difficult being in school. I am in grad school obtaining my MSW now, and I plan to continue working in pediatric oncology. I heard about this fundraiser through Facebook and automatically signed up.
My fundraising goal was $500. I am currently at $540! My main source of support has been the people who supported me while I was sick.
I will be wearing my bald cap on Friday at work all day, and although I don't have anything special planned I will be wearing it around my normal activities through Boston. I am planning to attend the Be Bold, Be Bald! party at Jillian’s that night with a group of friends who contributed to my campaign.
This is the first fundraising event I have took place in since after my treatment and it feels amazing to finally do something rather than just talk about doing it.
