Why should I support this particular event?

There is still no cure for cancer. Whether you have friends and family members who have battled cancer or you would like to support cancer research, education, or treatment, making a donation to such an important cause has never been easier.

How can I help?

You can help in many ways from participating in events to donating time or money to help our fundraising. Be Bold, Be Bald! allows you not only the freedom to do any of these, but the opportunity to influence how funds are distributed to cancer charities.

Who does cancer affect?

Cancer can affect anyone and one in two men and women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Five percent of cancer is strongly hereditary; however, cancer can be caused by both internal factors (e.g. genetic mutations, hormones) and external factors (e.g. tobacco, chemicals, radiation).

How many people does cancer affect?

Cancer ranks second for ’cause of death’ in the United States, accounting for one out of every four deaths. In one year alone, 1,437,180 patients were diagnosed with cancer and about 565,650 Americans died of cancer (more than 1,500 people a day).

Beyond the enormous amount of lives lost, how much does the fight against cancer cost?

In 2007, cancer cost the United States $219.2 billion which included direct medical costs, indirect morbidity costs, and indirect mortality costs.
