Be Bold, Be Bald! is a national fundraising event held on the third Friday of October each year, and takes place wherever you are. Participants go bald by boldly wearing a bald cap (or very boldly shaving their head) to honor those who bravely fight cancer and raise money to help fight back. Participants get sponsored for their bold move, and choose the charity they want their proceeds to benefit.
Anyone can join!
Wherever you are!
To honor those fighting cancer and to help raise money for cancer organizations
The event is on Oct. 20, 2017
By wearing a bald cap, which you can order from The Bald Shop.
How do I sign up?
Where is the event?
It’s wherever you are. At work. At school. At home. On the train. Anywhere. As long as you are wearing the bald cap, you are participating.
When is the event?
The next annual event will take place on Friday, October 20, 2017, and lasts from when you wake up until you go to bed. Each year, the event happens on the third Friday of October.
Who can participate?
Anyone who wants to help raise money for cancer charities without worrying about training beforehand or taking valuable time off for the event itself.
Why should you do this?
To raise money for cancer charities, honor loved ones, and gain a little more understanding about one of the challenges many people with cancer face.
How much does it cost to participate?
It is free to participate in Be Bold, Be Bald! and get access to all the online fundraising tools. However, with a $10 fee to cover materials and shipping, you can opt to receive a Bald Kit that includes your cap and other fundraising materials to get you started.
How much money do I need to raise?
There is no fundraising minimum. This event is as much about the experience of the day as it is about raising money. We encourage conversation as much as fundraising. Raise as much as you can. Talk about it as much as you can.
Where does the money go?
More than 50 local and national cancer organizations benefit from this event. At registration, participants select the organization to whom they would like their proceeds to benefit. Funds raised for each organization are granted to that organization. If you would like your proceeds to benefit an organization that is not currently a beneficiary, please have that organization complete our beneficiary application.
