Be Bold, Be Bald! is a national cancer fundraising event that honors those who bravely fight the disease. Participants simply sign up to wear a bald cap for a day, and get people to sponsor them for doing so. It is free to register, and all registered participants receive access to a variety of online fundraising tools, including a personal fundraising page. Bald caps, bald "kits" (bald cap, t-shirt, poster and other materials) and other accessories are available for purchase in the bald shop.
How do I sign up?
Just click "Get Involved" to join the movement. You can then immediately begin spreading the word and raising funds for your preferred charity.
Where is the event?
It's wherever you are. At work. At school. At home. On the train. Anywhere. As long as you are wearing the bald cap, you are participating.
When is the event?
The event will take place on Friday, October 18, 2013, and lasts from when you wake up until you go to bed.
Who can participate?
Anyone who wants to help raise money for cancer charities without worrying about training beforehand or taking valuable time off for the event itself.
Why should you do this?
To raise money for cancer charities, honor loved ones, and gain a little more understanding about one of the challenges many people with cancer face.
How much does it cost to participate?
It is free to participate in Be Bold, Be Bald! and get access to all the online fundraising tools. However, you can order a bald cap or other accessories from the Bald Shop for a nominal cost.
How much money do I need to raise?
There is no fundraising minimum. This event is as much about the experience of the day as it is about raising money. We encourage conversation as much as fundraising. Raise as much as you can. Talk about it as much as you can.
Where does the money go?
More than 30 local and national cancer organizations benefit from this event (see beneficiaries page). At registration, participants select the organization to whom they would like their proceeds to benefit. Funds raised for each organization are granted to that organization. If you would like your proceeds to benefit an organization that is not currently a beneficiary, please have that organization complete our beneficiary application.
How do I get a bald cap?
Just visit the Bald Shop on the site to order your bald cap and any other bald accessories you (and your team) may need for the big day.
