I am participating this year in honor of my grandfather, Clyde Cordtsen, who passed away in October of 2009. He was a fascinating man. He was a sailor, a dairy (ice cream) bar owner, a milk man, a school bus driver, a fire fighter - the list goes on. He started having what he thought was indigestion last summer, and it got so bad he couldn’t eat. So on Monday, September 28th, 2009 he had a doctor’s appointment and they ran loads of tests on him. On Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 he was diagnosed with lymphoma in his stomach – by Friday, October 2nd, 2009 he was gone. Although no-one can ever truly be prepared to lose a loved one, this loss was so sudden the shock is still very fresh. I have a small goal of raising $150 due to the current condition of the economy and high unemployment rate. However, this year I have persuaded three of my co-workers to be bald with me on Friday 10/22! We have put signs up around the building where we work to see who will “win” by raising the most money on our fundraising team. Next year, I think I will offer a prize (something pink) to whoever raises the most money on the team. Thank you for reaching out for my story!
